A Pink Kind of Day

Shirt: Anthropologie, Jeans: Joes Jeans, Shoes: Gap, Necklace: Francessas, Bag: Tory Burch

I have been craving a pink cross body bag for some time now, but I could never find the right one. But while shopping online a few weeks ago I found this cute Tory Burch clutch at Neiman Marcus. Although it isn't big enough for my wallet, it's timeless and classic. I love the pink color because it's the perfect blush color. Not too pink and not to white.  I wore this outfit for a shopping day with my mom a few days ago and although it is pretty simple I thought it was the perfect outfit to show off my new favorite bag!

Pastel Garden

Shirt: Urban Outfitters, Pants: Anthropologie, Wedges: Shoemint, Bag: Coach, Sunnies: Ray-Ban

My dad and brother built my mom this garden house a few years ago and I've always loved it. To be completely honest I'm not really sure what its purpose is but it's decorated really cute! While wondering around the yard yesterday I stumbled across the garden house and thought it would be a perfect setting for my next post.

As for my outfit, colored pants may be a thing of the past but I’m bringing them back with this outfit. I love the color of these cropped skinny’s and the white crocheted detail overlapping the pants adds an interesting take to an otherwise simple outfit. I snagged these sky-high wedges on shoemint a few weeks ago in an effect to copy Gal Meets Glam. I am pretty much obsessed with her blog and although I don’t think I sport them as well as she does, I am definitely excited about my new purchase.

Summer Stripes

Shirt: Anthropolgie, Shorts: American Eagle (Old), Shoes: Tory Burch, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff, Sunnies: Ray-Ban, Tumbler: Etsy

So it's been a while. And by a while I mean like… 5 months. I just got back from school and I'm home for the summer. I've been thinking about my blog for months and how much I have wanted to start it up again. Not that I ever really stopped. I started this blog over my three-week winter break intending to continue with it when I got back to school and obviously that didn't happen. In January I joined a sorority and between that, school and friends my priorities shifted a little which I wish wasn't the case. But I'm back and ready for a summer on the blog! I also took somewhat of a sabbatical because I wasn't completely pleased with the outfits I was producing on my blog. I have been following style blogs for years and when I started my own I expected mine to measure up to the likes of Gal Meets Glam or Pink Peonies, which of course is incredibly unrealistic right out of the gate. So I've decided to come back down to earth and realize that Rome wasn't built in a day. Just because my blog isn't where I want it to be today doesn't mean it won't ever get there. So I'm using this summer to find my inner blogger if you will. So come along for the journey, won't you?!

My outfit isn't anything too fancy today. This is what I would wear on a typical summer day. This will be my third summer in my go-to denim shorts (might be time to retire these babies) but I still love them! I'm a proud new owner of these ray-ban wayfarers purchased with my first paycheck at my summer job! It's safe to say they are my new pride and joy. To top off my simple ensemble I have my favorite monogram tumbler from Etsy. Not only does it complete my outfit ever so well, it will also keep me hydrated and stylish all summer long. The only thing this outfit is missing is a fabulous sun kissed tan.

A Touch of Spring

Dress: Urban Outfitters, Sweater: Madewell, Scarf: Anthropolgies, Shoes: Tory Burch, Bag: Vintage (borrowed from mom)

In the midst of this cold holiday weekend, there was a touch of sunlight! So I thought while I was home for the weekend I would whip out the only dress I packed. My blue knit sweater kept me nice and warm but this January weather was so surprising you would think it was spring already. These pink jelly Tory Burch flats were a weekend purchase (thanks mom!) that I had been eyeing for months. They will provide a great pop of color for the remainder of winter and then carry me right into spring. Since I packed in my small weekender bag for my weekend home, I didn't have a lot of space. So I had to leave out a few essentials, a purse being one of them. But my mother was nice enough to allow me to rummage through her closet until I found this timeless black cross body. She wasn't sure what brand it was but if you don't look too close, you would think it was a vintage Chanel.

Recruitment Day 5: Bid Day

Like preference day, I was so nervous and excited for bid day that I forgot to take pictures of my outfit. Although my outfit wasn’t anything to write home about, I included a few photos taken in front of my new home with my new sisters! Bid day was the same day as preference morning. After we all had made our final preferences and chosen the sorority we wanted to join, we waited in anticipation for the bid day festivities a few hours later. We received our bids (the invitation to join the sorority), met out new sisters and took many memorable photos. It was an emotional process but I wouldn’t change anything about it. I pledged Kappa Alpha Theta and in a little less than a month I will be initiated and become an official active member!

Recruitment Day 4: Preference Morning

Dress: Urban Outfitters, Sweater: Jcrew, Heels: Jcrew

After two long days of recruitment I was definitely ready for preference morning. This is the day when you choose your last two houses to visit and eventually make your final selection. The attire for preference morning was a “Sunday brunch” or “meeting your boyfriends parents” look. I was so nervous for preference morning that I forgot to take pictures of my outfit beforehand. So I snapped a few informal pictures and included this shot of me taken from a group photo. I based my outfit around these pink jcrew heels. I went for neutral colors on top to showcase my bright girly shoes! My lace ivory dress and my sequin grey sweater add something special to my simple outfit. Although my outfit was understated, it was by far my favorite one of recruitment. I really felt like myself in this outfit and I think both of the sororities I visited while wearing it, got to see the real me!
